Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year, one of the most important holidays in Vietnam, South Korea, China and other Asian countries, began Saturday.

But an outbreak of a mysterious respiratory virus in China has cast a pall over the celebrations as travel has been suspended, major attractions and festivals have been closed down, and some temples have canceled their celebrations.

Do you celebrate the Lunar New Year? If so, how? Have your festivities been dampened by this public health crisis?

If not, have any of your holiday celebrations ever been overshadowed by something outside of your control? How did you handle it? Conversely, has there ever been a time when a holiday boosted your mood during a tough time?

Tell us about it in the comments, then see the related photos to learn more about how China is dealing with this public health crisis.
