“Almost every family has a secret they never discuss,” writes Laura M. Holson in a recent essay for the Food section. “Ours is this: We were taste testers for Pop-Tarts.”

Her piece goes on to describe how, in the 1960s, cardboard boxes of the food were delivered to her house, and then she, her parents and her seven siblings held “tasting nights” to try unreleased Pop-Tart flavors and rate them.

If you were to be chosen as a taste tester for any food in the world, what food would you want it to be?

For example, maybe there is a company, restaurant or store — global or local — that makes a type of food or beverage you’d like to help them perfect. Why would you choose that particular food? How would you convince them that you were right for the job?
